A first-class cricketer, sitting as a spectator during the World Cup tie between Scotland and Bangladesh, has dropped a lucrative one million dollar worth one-handed catch in Nelson.
Central Stags all-rounder Marty Kain, who took a spectacular one-handed catch last month during a domestic game, was eyeing for a potential one million prize as he took part in the Catch-a-Million competition.
Reflecting on his dropped catch, Kain said that he only got a touch on it, adding that it just got big on him at the end, insisting that he was not used to really catching on hills and had eight opposition there, Stuff.co.nz reported.
The competition, launched by Tui brewery, would see the catchers being added to a prize pool where they could share up to one million dollars.
The minimum guaranteed prize pool is 250,000 million dollars and it would grow if New Zealand advance in the tournament.
If the Brendon McCullum-led side advances to the quarterfinals, the prize pool would be 350,000 million dollars and a semifinal berth would raise the prize money to 500,000 million dollars.
While a final appearance would net 750,000, winning the Cup would raise it to one million dollars.
