14-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal, who remained sidelined for nearly three months due to a wrist injury, is all set to make a return to the ATP Tour with this week's Cincinnati Masters.

The Spaniard was forced to pull out of the Roland Gaross after suffering the left wrist injury, which also ruled him out of the Wimbledon.

Nadal, however, made his return to tennis to represent his country at the Rio Olympics in the men's singles, doubles and mixed doubles event, Sport24 reported.

The 30-year-old, who was chosen as Spain's flag-bearer at the opening ceremony in Rio on August 5, said he was surprised to see how his wrist held up despite not featuring in any match for about two-and-a-half months.

While Nadal was crashed out of the men's singles event after a semi-final exit at the hands of resurgent Juan Martin Del Potro, he managed to secure a gold medal in the men's doubles along with partner Marc Lopez.

Nadal said that he felt great to be able to survive and win matches in the prestigious quadrennial event without any practice.

Talking about his likely return to the 'big event' in Cincinnati, the world number four said that he was looking forward to the challenge while vowing to put his best foot forward in upcoming matches.
