Chief public relation officer (CPRO), Northern Railways, Neeraj Sharma on Tuesday said fog and the negligence of the driver could be the main reasons for the mishap which took place at 8
"The accident took place at 8:25 a.m. The train that was in front was going to LTT from Haridwar which was on a halt. The other train was coming from Palwal to Ghaziabad. In automatic territory, trains can operate one after another, but there are certain rule to be followed. There was some fog and the driver's negligence could be the reasons for the accident. Both drivers are injured and one driver has died," Sharma told ANI here.
"Our officers and general manager have reached the site. The unaffected coaches of the Haridwar train are back on track will be resumed in 10 minutes. Rescue and medical assistance was promptly initiated by the railways and district authorities," he added.
