Responding to the meeting between the National Security Advisors of India and Pakistan in Bangkok, Thailand, Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav on Tuesday said foreign policy can work only by keeping the country in confidence.

"The NSA-level talks that happened in Thailand secretly is not right. There should be transparency as ours is a democratic country, as it is the spirit of our democracy. They have talked so much about Pakistan during the election that is why they have to do all these things now. Only by gaining the confidence of the nation, can our foreign policy work," Yadav told ANI here.

Yadav, however, endorsed the need for NSAs to continue to talk. He said that Janata Dal-United has been consistent on this for years.

"Talks must be carried on between both countries. This has been our perception for years," he said.
