The FTII Student's Association on Friday hailed their meeting with the three-member committee from the Information and Broadcasting (I & B) Ministry and hoped that the meeting would yield a positive outcome.

"Finally, we had representatives from the I and B Ministry coming down to campus and talking to us. It's a gesture we were hoping for from last 71 days, good to see a 3 member committee spoke with students and faculty at length," FTII Student's Association representative, Vikas Urs, told media persons here.

"Meeting with students was in essence to try to understand students' perspective and concerns; were hopeful," he added.

Meanwhile, S.M. Khan, who led the I and B committee, said that the discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere.

"We had very good discussions in cordial atmosphere, everything was discussed in details, will submit our report to I and B Ministry soon," he said.

The FTII students' strike over demand for the removal of TV actor and BJP member Gajendra Chauhan as the chairman entered its 71st day today.

The three-member team will submit a report to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry after carefully assessing the situation at the institute.

Academic activity at the FTII is at a standstill with students being adamant over Chauhan's removal.
