One Naxal was killed in an encounter with police in the forest area of Malewada in Gadchiroli district on Tuesday.

The police also recovered one rifle from his possession.

Earlier in April, 40 Naxals were gunned down by the Maharashtra Police's C-60 commando in the same district. The encounter was said to be the biggest gunfight in Maharashtra so far.

Following the encounter, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his family members also received a death threat from Maoist organisations.
