The Gauhati High Court has ordered the Assam Government to stop fresh recruitments to fill 366 Grade-III posts in different offices of the state water resources department.
A single bench of the high court comprising of Justice Ujjal Bhuyan issued the interim order on Monday based on a petition filed by the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP).
The SAKP had challenged the state government's approval order of May 15, 2013, directing concerned authorities to fill 110 vacant junior assistant posts and 256 sectional assistant posts without regularising the hundreds of existing master roll employees working in the department since April 1, 1994.
The high court also asked the state government to submit its reply to the interim order by September 20.
