Children's network The Hub is set to debut a new animated series about a super-heroine named SheZow on Saturday.
The catch is that super heroine's alter-ego is a 12-year-old boy named Guy, who becomes a female crime-fighter by saying "You Go Girl!" and using a power ring that he inherited from his dead aunt, the New York Daily News reported.
However, the show has come for criticism with Ben Shapiro of Breitbart News writing that "nothing says 'child-appropriate material' quite like gender-bending underage superheroes." He also called Hub CEO Margaret Loesch a "leftist."
A spokesman for Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) fired back saying that panning the animated series for "promoting" transgender themes is "cartoonish.
