German mag sparks outrage after mocking 'comatose' Schumacher's looks in 'cover pic'

A German magazine has reportedly sparked outrage after mocking the looks of comatose Formula One legend Michael Schumacher.

The seven-time German champion has been in an artificial coma for five weeks after a devastating ski accident in the French Alpine resort of Meribel, where he has a chateau.

According to the Daily Star, the magazine, named Titanic, posted a picture of another F1 legend Niki Lauda, who was seriously burned in a crash at the 1976 German Grand Prix, labelled with Schumacher's name with a headline, which read- 'Exclusive - First Photo After The Accident - This is how badly it affected Schumi'.

The report mentioned that Lauda, who came close to death after his Ferrari burst into flames and he inhaled hot toxic, suffered burns leaving him disfigured with severe scaring.

Slamming the 'Titanic' cover, Lauda called it 'absolute barefaced cheek' and 'completely impious', adding that he is considering legal steps against the magazine.

The magazine also offers to keep the readers further 'entertained' with a puzzle of the seriously injured Schumacher in a helmet, a 'spot the difference' Schumacher puzzle, as well as a labyrinth where taking the wrong route down the mountain puts one in hospital.

However, the editor of the magazine said that the reaction of the British media is hypocritical, adding that they are upset because the idea was taken out from under their noses.
