Former South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs has been reportedly taken into custody on a charge of reckless driving following an accident in Camps Bay on Sunday evening.

According to Western Cape police spokesperson FC van Wyk, the 40 year old suspect would appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's court on November 25, 2015 following his arrest on Sunday. Wyk further said that a case of drunk driving has also been under investigation, Sport24 reported.

Jacaranda FM website claims that though there were no reported injuries, it is suspected Gibbs was involved in a reckless driving when he collided with a Toyota.

According to the People's Post website, Camps Bay police station commander Captain Delicia Isaacs has also confirmed the incident.

Right hand opening batsman Gibbs played 90 Tests, 248 ODIs and 23 T20s for South Africa.
