Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs has admitted that he will pursue his own management career if Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal does not want him to continue as a player after taking charge of the club.

Giggs, who is currently United's interim manager, has told the club that he will not accept a role on Van Gaal's backroom staff unless he is assured that he will have an influence on the squad.

According to the Mirror, Giggs said that he can only play for United, adding that it is black and white and not about money.

Giggs, who has won 13 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, four FA Cups and four League Cups in his illustrious career at United, said that he has been extremely lucky for having only ever worked at United, but he is still a young man in relative terms in management.

The Welshman said that he could have another 20 to 25 years in the game and it might not all be spent at United, but if he goes elsewhere it would be strange for him and he cannot see himself doing that.

Giggs added that he is the manager of United now, as well as a player, and if there is no room for him in the starting line-up or the bench, then he would not do it.
