Search engine Google has brought out their new Doodle on Thursday to celebrate the 187th birth anniversary of English cricketer and creator of 'the Bible of Cricket', John Wisden.
According to The Independent, despite his significant cricketing achievements, Wisden is most famous for creating the eponymous 'Wisden Cricketers' Almanack' after retiring from the game.
The report further said that the Almanack was first published in 1864, with Wisden 2013 therefore being the 150th edition.
The report further said that the Doodle has celebrated the birthday of Wisden by using the distinctive front cover font of the Almanack against the famous yellow background that has been used on every edition since 1938.
The report also mentioned that the Doodle also featured its own impression of the famous woodcut of two cricketers, which regularly appeared on the covers of the Almanack until 2003 when it was replaced by a photograph of a contemporary cricketer.
The report also said that the Almanack is the longest running sports annual in history, adding that a copy of the original 1864 edition is valued at around 25,000 pounds.
Born in Brighton on September 5, 1826, Wisden made his debut for Sussex at 18 years of age and is widely considered to have been the best all-rounder of his day, the report added.
