Google has paid tribute to adventurer Thor Heyerdahl with a doodle depicting his 1947 Kon Tiki expedition.
The Norwegian adventurer, who died in 2002 aged 87, celebrated his birthday on October 6 and gained fame for his 8,000km sail across the Pacific Ocean in a hand-built raft from South America to the Tuamotu Islands, the Mirror reported.
The internet giant has created one of its iconic illustrations to pay tribute to the man who recreated a Peruvian raft.
The Peruvian raft is made of balsa wood and other native materials, and it was sailed thousands of miles across the Pacific to prove it was possible for a primitive craft to make the journey.
