Governors of several provinces in Sri Lanka have reportedly submitted their resignations to President Maithripala Sirisena.
The Governor of the North Central and Southern Provinces, Karunaratne Divulgane and Kumari Balasuriya handed over their letters of resignation to the President on Monday. North Western Province Governor Tissa R. Balalla also sent his letter of resignation to the President on Monday, reports the Lanka Page web site.
Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa has also resigned. Uva Province Governor Nanda Mathew handed his resignation to the president on January 17.
Kobbekaduwa told media that all governors had received letters asking for their resignations.
