Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Dr. Jitendra Singh on Tuesday said that the Home and External Affairs Ministries are aware about Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit's invitation to the Hurriyat leaders for Eid Milan.

"I would not like to get into a public debate on this...The External Affairs Ministry, the Home Affairs Ministry, they are all taking cognizance of the entire sequence of events and as and when required they will take a position," Singh told ANI here.

The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has invited leaders of the Hurriyat Conference for Eid Milan on July 21, the separatists have claimed.

The Pakistan High Commission cancelled its original plan to host an 'iftar' on July 4, during the Islamic month of Ramzan, to ensure that the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the SCO summit in the Russian city of Ufa went off without any hiccups.

A meeting between the Hurriyat leaders and the Pakistani envoy in August last year had led to India calling off the proposed Foreign Secretary-level talks between the two nations.
