The government today set up a committee to suggest suitable remedial measures to address concerns regarding security of people from North East.
The six-member panel to be headed by M P Bezbaruah, a retired bureaucrat, will submit its report within two months after examining the causes behind the attacks, violence and discrimination against the people from the Northeast.
The decision comes in the wake of death of Nido Taniam, a student from Arunachal Pradeshn New Delhi last month.
Earlier in the day, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi met Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and MPs from North East to discuss steps to prevent atrocities against people from the North East region.

In a fit of rage, Nido broke a glass at the shop but he paid money for that. Afterwards he was allegedly beaten with sticks.
The next day, when he didn't wake up, his friends rushed him to AIIMS, where he was declared dead.
