Nepal's Deputy Prime Minister Bimalendra Nidhi on Tuesday said that the government is in talks with the Madhesh-based parties and is considering constitution amendment.

"We are in talks with the Madhes parties and considering constitution amendment. We are hopeful to soon find a way," Nidhi told ANI.

Madhesis have been protesting for a long time for amendment in the seven-province model proposed in the new Constitution that divides their ancestral land and politically marginalizes them.

The Madhesi parties had extended support to a new alliance of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) and the Nepali Congress (NC) only because they had promised to address their concerns by amending the Constitution.

The Himalayan nation has been embroiled in political unrest ever since the new Constitution was adopted in 2015.

The minor ethnic and regional parties believe that the new charter does not represent them enough.

Nidhi said the whole world needs to unite against terrorism and Nepal government and people have always been one in this issue.

He made these remarks on the sidelines of Counter Terrorism Conference 2017 in New Delhi.
