Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that the government disassociates itself from Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's statement crediting Pakistan for peaceful elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Our government and our party disassociates itself from Jammu and Kashmir chief minister statement," said Singh.
Sayeed had earlier on Sunday said that the Hurriyat, Pakistan and militants had allowed a conducive atmosphere for the recently held assembly polls in the state.
The opposition parties have strongly criticized the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister's remark crediting Pakistan for peaceful elections in the state and demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's response on the issue.
