Former MP Shahid Siddiqui on Friday said that the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre is trying to harm the nation and society with its move to ban meat.
"Bakri Eid is about to arrive in a few days. If this continues then it can lead to tensions in society. This is not the right time for appeasement. The Bharatiya Janata Party had said that it won't do appeasement of the minorities," Siddiqui told ANI.
"Even Jains are minorities and they are being appeased, which is wrong. We have made a joke by discussing who will eat what. I think the government is doing wrong and trying to harm the nation and society," he added.
After Maharashtra, a ban on sale of meat and fish has been ordered in Rajasthan for three days this month in view of Jain festivals.
