Grammys 2017: Metallica-Lady Gaga's flaming performance faces technical hiccup

As expected, the 2017 Grammys did see Lady Gaga and Metallica duet, but things did not go as smooth as the world waited for.

The performance started with a microphone issue for Metallica singer James Hetfield, when the two were all set to make the audience go gaga over 'Moth Into Flame' from 'Hardwired... to Self-Destruct,' reports Hollywood Reporter.

So, to manage the crisis situation, the two singers shared a mic.

Both Gaga and Metallica are no strangers to the Grammys, with18 trophies for the hard rockers and 17 for the glam songstress.

Metallica's 'Hardwired' was nominated for 'Best Rock Song' at the 59th Grammy Awards, but lost to David Bowie's 'Blackstar.' Gaga, on the other hand, was not up for any awards, as 'Joanne' came out too late to qualify.

It is not the first time that the rock band gave a collaborative performance at the Grammys. Back in 2014, they joined hands with Chinese pianist Lang Lang.

Ahead of her performance, Gaga showed her solidarity with Metallica by getting a new tattoo in their honour.

The singer posted a photo of her new ink, a large moth with skull, on her Instagram and captioned it "The Moth & Metallica."

On a related note, at the 2016 Grammys, Adele too suffered technical difficulties while singing 'All I Ask.' At the time, her microphone fell onto the piano keys.
