The Indian fire-protection industry is expanding to meet the growing demand from the user segment. Innovative fire safety products with new technology are being introduced in the Indian markets.

A fire and security exhibition was recently held in New Delhi, which brought together experts from the fire- protection industry to share their knowledge and discuss new technologies.

AR Sontake, Deputy Chief Fire Officer and Member of Organizing committee, Fire India 2015 said, "It was a mega event, which had representation from all the sectors like industries, regular fire service. Manufacturers and the foreign delegates also registered themselves here and they came with their products and presented their technical papers."

According to reports the fire safety equipment market in India is expected to cross USD 4.26 billion by 2017. As the economy sees growth, industries are updating fire protection systems for continued operations in industrial plants and offices.

The Make in India initiative has provided a platform for local as well as international companies to launch new products and manufacture them in India. The government regulations for fire safety are now mandatory and this has further brightened the market outlook for fire protection systems in India.

Sandeep Earully, Country Manager for Scott Safety, a British based premier manufacturer of safety devices for firefighters an exhibitor at the Fire India 2015 said, "We have a complete presence in India and we have the capacity to do a lot of things with Make in India. With Scott Safety, we are looking at bringing newer products in India and looking at the requirements of the end user and how we can use the international quality products and try and make it in India."

A wide range of products such as fire-fighting technology, robot system, hydraulic platforms and all sorts of latest equipments were displayed at the exhibition.

A stall by Indian based CKD Fire suppression Co. displayed automatic fire extinguishers invented by SOYUZ, the Russian space agency. Mohan Gulati, CEO, for the company said, "We have tied up with a top Russian manufacturer, which is basically defense oriented and at a later stage we intend to manufacture it in India. We have introduced and launched this product with a very clear objective that we will ultimately manufacture it in India under Make in India project."
