Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel visits Sardar Sarovar Dam to offer prayers

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel visited the Sardar Sarovar Dam here today after the NCA permitted raising its height by 17 meters.

Patel thanked PM Modi for the decision.

"It's a great day today, I thank Narendra Modi for his decision as it will prove fruitful to the residents of Gujrat," said Patel.

Meanwhile a senior activist of National Alliance for People's Movement (NAPM), Madhuresh Kumar criticized the move saying, "The decision is unfortunate, we thought Narendra Modi will reach upon a conclusion after proper discussion but in the meeting it seemed pre-decided."

"Narendra Modi is now the Prime Minister of India not the Chief Minister of Gujarat so, he needs to think upon the interest of all the three states not only Gujarat," he added.

He also said, "There are around 40000 families residing near the dam and it's very unfortunate to claim that there is zero evacuation left to be done. Even after 30years of struggle no justice has been done to the people.
