Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-starrer 'Gully Boy' has made its way into the audiences' hearts. The film minted Rs. 18.70 crore on its opening day.

Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle to share the Day 1 collection. He wrote, "#GullyBoy takes a massive start... #ValentineDay - not an official holiday - has given a big boost... Metros are rocking, contribute to superb total... Thu ₹ 18.70 cr [3350 screens]. India biz."

According to Adarsh, 'Gully Boy' is expected to only go up from here with positive reviews flowing in.

The film became the biggest opener of 2019 beating 'Uri', 'Manikarnika' and 'Thackeray'.

According to Box Office India, the film was bigger than Ranveer's last two releases-'Padmaavat' and 'Simmba'.

With 'Gully Boy' box office collection, Ranveer has given his second highest opening ever while this is the highest first day earning of a film starring Alia.

The film received the Valentine's Day advantage especially in metro cities. While it was not a holiday yesterday, the film did exceptionally well in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore.

'Gully Boy' opened to great reviews from both film critics and audiences. It first premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival. Many of the international publications gave the film a good review.

'Gully Boy' is inspired by the lives of Mumbai street rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy. The film is directed by Zoya Akhtar and released on Valentine's Day, February 14.

The film revolves around the underground rap movement in India and all the songs of the film have become extremely popular.

Apart from this, Ranveer and Alia will also be seen in Karan Johar's upcoming directorial 'Takht'. The period drama also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar in pivotal roles.
