Commissioner Gurugram on Monday said that the police has registered the complaint of the 22-year-old victim who was allegedly gang-raped by three men in a moving car in Gurugram and have formed a SIT to investigate the matter.
Commissioner Gurugram Sandeep Khirwar said that the police has registered the case and will try to nab the accused as soon as possible.
"A woman who was living in Gurugram has registered a complaint, that on the intervening night of Friday while she was returning to her PG, few men dragged her and took her into a car, raped her and then left her in some area of Delhi," said Khirwar.
"We have registered a case and now are investigating the matter. We have constituted a SIT. We will try to nab the culprits as soon as possible. We are gathering the CCTV footage to find the absconders," he added.
Khirwar further said that the police is also trying to figure out about the lapse where it was not able to prevent the crime from happening.
"We are investigating the whole matter, and will also work to gauge the lapse from the side of the police," he said.
In yet another incident of sexual assault, a 22-year old woman belonging to the north-eastern state of Sikkim was allegedly gang-raped by three men in a moving car in Gurugram, and thrown out on a Delhi road later.
