A day after the Hamas commander escaped Israeli strike in Gaza, an Israeli cabinet minister has gone on record to say that the military leader "deserves to die just like bin Laden."
Interior Minister Gideon Saar told army radio that the rocket attacks carried out by Israel after the breakdown of the ceasefire agreement was targeted at Mohammed Deif. However, instead of Deif, his wife and son were killed, reported Sky News.
Calling him an "arch murderer", Gideon said that Israel will use every opportunity to kill him.
The military commander has escaped several Israeli attacks in the past as well.
The dead bodies of his wife, Widad and his seven-month-old son, Ali were taken to a mosque in the Jabaliya refugee camp and then laid to rest in a cemetery.
