Mercedes ace Lewis Hamilton has reportedly apologised to his engineer after ranting on the team radio during the US Grand Prix although he denied he was frustrated as he declared finishing fourth was as good as a win given their current form.

Hamilton initially snapped at race engineer Peter Bonnington telling not to talk to him in mid-duel but 20 laps later complained he was not getting enough information.

According to the Mirror, Hamilton, who finished fourth as arch rivals Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso wrapped up first and second in the driver's championship, apologised for snapping at Bonnington and blamed his rudeness on the 'heat of the moment', adding that Bonnington has done a 'great job'.

After a technical meeting in which Hamilton was able to hold clear-the-air talks team boss Ross Brawn said there were no hard feelings and in such a technical sport, it was just learning when to feed the masses of information drivers need, adding that Hamilton was trying to balance preserving the tyres and keeping a good distance.
