Legendary Australian batsman Matthew Hayden has revealed that Australian squad getting in India's new captain Virat Kohli's face would be the key to win the fourth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground that starts on Tuesday.
With Mahendra Singh Dhoni's sudden retirement from Test cricket, Kohli has been handed the reins of India's Test team.
Hayden insisted that Dhoni had been a combative warrior, someone who played it really hard but really far and had that cool edge too, but added that Kohli looks like someone who could get India into a lot of trouble in the future because he believes that the batsman is going to be so emotional that it would bubble over.
Hayden further wrote in his column for News.com.au that Kohli leads from the front, which is terrific and carries the weight of expectation on his own performance.
And he added that technically the new skipper the best player outside of Michael Clarke he has seen in the modern game. He stated that Kohli claims to be really stable and unaffected by what happens on the field but he just doesn't believe that's the case.
Hayden claimed that they all know what they saw after the incident when Australia's pace spearhead Mitchell Johnson threw the ball and hit Kohli. He claimed that what they saw then was a rabbit in the headlights.
Hayden insisted that Kohli should have been out twice and played a number of streaky shots.
So, the former skipper claimed that if anything he believes Australia should be getting in Kohli's face more. He added that the way Kohli reacted in those few overs after the Johnson incident showed why.
Hayden further added that removing Kohli cheaply would be one of the keys to getting a win in Sydney and no one would be complaining if the series finishes 3-0.
