Game of Thrones has been renewed for the fifth and sixth season by HBO, it has been revealed.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the channel's programming president Michael Lombardo said that the fantasy drama, whose fourth season premiere had record-breaking ratings, is a phenomenon like no other.
Lombardo asserted that co-creators and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with their talented collaborators, continue to surpass themselves, and they look forward to more of their dazzling storytelling.
The renewal means that the highly-acclaimed show will become HBO's longest-running original scripted series currently on the air.
