The hearing of a high treason case against Pakistan's former president Pervez Musharraf will resume from October 9 on a daily basis.

A special court announced the date for the commencement of the hearing on Monday, reported Geo TV.

Earlier, the case was heard by a two-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Justice Yawar Ali, and comprising Sindh High Court's (SHC) Justice Nazar Akbar, following which Justice Ali remarked that the case was being adjourned for the last time as it needed to be taken to a "logical conclusion".

Justice Ali further said that senior prosecutor Naseeruddin Khan Nayyar will present arguments as the court's legal adviser. He further observed that all the statements have been already recorded.

Meanwhile, a Ministry of Interior representative said, "A request was made for Musharraf's arrest through Interpol."

The case was filed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government in 2013, alleging that Musharraf had unlawfully suspended the constitution with the help of the military and instituted an emergency rule in the year 2007.

The trial against General Musharraf has been pending before the judicature since March 2016 after he fled to Dubai citing health issues following the removal of his name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
