Heavy downpour displaces hundreds in Dhangadhi and adjoining areas

Heavy downpour and floods have inundated dozens of settlements here in Dhangadhi municipality and many other VDCs in Kailali district.

According to the Himalayan Times, hundreds of families living in Shivanagar, Bhansar Road and Bishalnagar areas of Dhangadhi municipality have been displaced by the floods.

Properties worth millions of rupees in the market areas of Dhangadhi municipality have also been destroyed.

As per reports of the District Disaster Rescue Committee (DDRC), Manuwa, Janakinagar, Thapapur, Dhansinghpur, Narayanpur, Patharaiya, Pahalmanpur villages and dozens of human settlements in Tikapur municipality are also waterlogged.

Chief District Officer as well as DDRC Coordinator Ram Kumar Shrestha said that the committee is yet to gather information on the exact number of displaced families, taking shelters in public houses, government buildings and community forest buildings.
