Becoming the latest high-profile victim of America's opioid epidemic, Prince died of an overdose from fentanyl at his home in Minnesota on April 21.

It was reported that the 'I Wanna Be Your Lover' hit-maker was just hours away from getting help for his drug addiction when he unexpectedly died.

Channel 24 has listed some of key events in the last two weeks of Prince's life:

April 7: A Minnesota based physician, Dr Michael Schulenberg visits Prince, as per the search warrant. Prince postpones two concerts in Atlanta, stating that he had fallen ill with the flu.

April 14: Prince gives a consolatory performance to his fans in Atlanta. With a slight smile, he jokes about having been "under the weather." His voice seems feeble while speaking but sounds fine during his 80-minute concert.

April 15: Prince is found unconscious on a flight home from Atlanta and the plane makes an emergency stop in Moline, Illinois. The first responder gives him a shot of Narcan, an antidote used to reverse the effect of opioid overdoses.

April 16: Prince hosts a dance party at his Paisley Park complex and makes a brief appearance, flaunting his new purple piano. "Wait for a few days before you waste any prayers," he tells fans.

April 20: Schulenberg visits Prince again. He prescribes medications to Prince and ordered some tests. However what medicines were prescribed and if Prince took them remains unspecified.

April 20: According to Kornfeld attorney, Dr Howard Kornfeld, an addiction specialist from California, is asked by Prince's representatives to help the star. Kornfeld sends his son along with a drug used to treat opiate addiction to Minnesota.

April 21: Kornfeld and others find Prince unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park. Schulenberg arrived on the death scene. He tells a detective that he was there to give the test results and that he had prescribed medications that were to brought from Walgreen's pharmacy.
