Aamir Khan today appeared to be very rational when quizzed on Irrfan Khan's recent Islam remark and said religion is a personal issue with each individual having personal thought and belief about it.
"I feel religion is a personal issue. Each one has personal thought and belief about it. I have nothing to say on that. I have my own and follow that," said the 51-year-old actor at 'Dangal's poster launch event here.
Irrfan had earlier during promotion of his movie 'Madari' at Jaipur questioned the practice of sacrifice and fasting in Islam, saying the whole idea of 'Qurbani and sacrifice' has been defeated in today's time.
"The meaning of Qurbani is to sacrifice something which is close to you instead of any goat or sheep which you just buy to sacrifice. Before sacrificing, we should share a bond with that thing otherwise just killing of an animal will not serve the purpose. Nowadays, we have lost the relevance behind such religious activities and perform these rituals without knowing the meaning behind them," said the 'Jazbaa' actor.
Commenting on Muharram, the actor said that Muslims have turned Muharram to a joke because the people celebrate it like a festival instead of mourning.
The enraged clerics later advised the Muslim actor to "concentrate on his film career" and refrain from "making random statements about our religion".
