Though they make the headlines now, there was a time when the Kardashians were not that famous. So how did they turn into reality TV stars?
It was the retired American football player, broadcaster, actor and later convicted felon, O.J. Simpson, who changed all that for them, reports News.com.au.
The story goes back to 1994, when the now-famous family first found themselves at the centre of a media storm, when Kris' ex-husband Robert Kardashian served on the defence team of his best friend O.J. Simpson, who was accused of killing his wife Nicole Brown Simpson.
It was that incident, which turned the family to front and centre in the trial.
This incident is also credited with giving birth to the 24-hour news cycle and had more than 100 million people tuning in to the coverage.
This is how came up stars of the Reality genre- family of the century.
