A report of the World Bank has described Himachal Pradesh as the best state with the best human development outcomes in India.
The state government's performance in terms of poverty reduction, education, women employment and health sectors were used as parameters to compare with other states.
It has also taken a lead in implementing various national programmes with a special emphasis on infrastructural development.
The report titled 'Scaling the Heights: Social Inclusion and Sustainable Development' was released by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dhani Ram Shandil in Shimla.
The report is a first of its kind prepared by the World Bank for Himachal Pradesh.
The state has prepared a plan to prevent natural disasters as well.
