Former Haryana chief minister B.S. Hooda on Thursday blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in the state for protests by the Jat community demanding reservation in government jobs.

He said that the unrest in the state was due to the inciting statements made by the BJP leaders.

"During our government everyone was satisfied with the reservation. We never tinkered with the existing reservations, but at the same time we did not leave out any," Hooda told ANI.

"Now, whatever is happening, the BJP is responsible for it. Their leaders made contradicting statements, some even incited people. So, government should solve this problem by holding talks," he added.

Jat community protesters continued their agitation today, after talks between leaders of the community and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar failed to resolve reservation issue.

Roads and railway routes were blocked around Rohtak town, Jhajjar, Sonipat, Hisar, Bhiwani and Jind districts.

Jat leaders said that the agitation will not be withdrawn till the Khattar government comes out with substantive action on their demand for reservation for Jat community in government jobs and educational institutions.
