Hussey feels 'too early' to hand 'leader' Smith Test reins

Former Australian Test captain Mike Hussey has stated that though he has no doubts on Steve Smith's leadership qualities, he believes, it is too early to give him the responsibility of Test captaincy now.

Hussey said that he would like to see him keep cementing his place in the team at this stage a bit longer. According to him, Smith who played exceptionally well and, has led NSW and Twenty20 teams to success would definitely fit as a long term candidate, News.com.au reported.

However, he believes that Brad Haddin, being the vice-captain at the moment, has got the right amount of experience and knows the game extremely well. He would do a great job, he added.

As Michael Clarke is reportedly set to miss much of the upcoming four-Test series against India, talks have started revolving around who should take the role of captaincy. Vice-captain Brad Haddin is expected to take over as a skipper in Clarke's absence.
