Information and Broadcasting Secretary Bimal Julka met a delegation of the U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) led by the Senior Vice President of 21st Century Fox, Joe Welch, here yesterday.
The media and entertainment sector in India and the steps being taken by the government to promote 'Make-in-India' across different platforms in various sectors were discussed at the meeting.
Emphasizing the government's efforts to make India a "film shooting destination", Julka gave an overview of the growth of the industry in critical areas of the media and entertainment sectors. He said that the government is considering a proposal to set up a film facilitation unit to promote the single window clearance concept.
The discussions also focused on the possible collaborative avenues related to anti-piracy.
Julka also emphasized the role of his ministry in disseminating government schemes across media platforms to sensitize the masses.
