With the Ryder Cup around the corner, Ian Poulter is confident that the tournament will bring the best out of him, yet again.

Poulter, who has been confirmed as one of Paul McGinley's captain's picks for the face-off with the USA at Gleneagles later this month, said that he is looking to finish the season strongly, the Guardian reported.

He said that it was no secret that he could not play as well as he wanted to, and attributed his underperformance to a succession of troublesome injuries.

Poulter said he had played a lot of golf recently and felt he could get more done in the gym and by practicing at home.

He said that he would "ramp it up" over the course of next three weeks while expressing how much the Ryder Cup meant to him.

Poulter said that he intended to play exceptionally well with a European badge on his chest.
