India and Oman on Monday pressed for greater collaboration in health and food sectors respectively.
Both sides agreed to pursue opportunities in the healthcare industry, including in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology sectors and resolved to encourage their private sectors to explore participation in these areas.
In the area of food security, Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined India's ongoing efforts and reiterated its offer of working with Oman for meeting Oman's long-term food security requirements.
On the other hand, Oman expressed appreciation for India's remarkable achievements in ensuring food security for its people and called for greater bilateral cooperation aimed at developing the agriculture and fisheries sectors in Oman.
On the United Nation's reforms, both countries stressed its need, including of the Security Council, through expansion in both categories of membership, to make it more representative, credible and effective.
Prime Minister Modi thanked King of Oman Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said for his consistent support for India's candidature for the permanent membership in a reformed and expanded UN Security Council. He also thanked him for supporting India's candidatures at various UN and other multilateral organisations.
