Defence expert Major General (retd.) S.R. Sinho on Sunday said India will have to put pressure on Pakistan to get the voice sample of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi if Islamabad does not cooperate in this regard.
"I believe that the advocate of Lakhvi has said that these samples cannot be provided to India. Now the ball is in the Pakistan caught, they had promised to co-operate (and take) action against Lakhvi. How far they go, it has to be seen," Major General (retd.) Sinho told ANI.
"Otherwise, we have to tell Pakistan accordingly or will have to (put) pressure (on) Pakistan accordingly to provide the voice test," he added.
In a major setback to India's attempt to expedite the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack trail, Lakhvi's lawyer has reportedly said that he will not give his voice sample.
This comes just days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif met on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Ufa, Russia.
