India won the first ODI against Bangladesh by seven wickets in a rain-curtailed match in Dhaka on Sunday.

Openers Ajinkya Rahane and Robin Uthappa powered confident fifties to guide India to victory as the visitors reached the revised target of 150 runs off 26 overs with seven balls to spare after heavy rain stopped play for more than two hours in the day-night clash at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium.

According to Sport24, Bangladesh, who went down to bat first, gave India a target of 272-9 off 50 overs with their skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and batsman Shakib Al Hasan scoring half centuries each.

India started their chase with Uthappa scoring 50 on his ODI comeback after nearly six years and Rahane punished loose deliveries by hitting more than a run a ball.

India were 100-1 in 16.4 overs when the downpours started and started tentatively when game resumed but managed to reach the target with ease in the end.

Rahim hit three fours and three sixes in his 63-ball 59 for Bangladesh while Shakib scored 52 off 58 balls.

India dominated with the ball initially but Bangladesh reportedly made up for their slow start towards the end.

The second and third matches of the short ODI series would be held on Tuesday and Thursday respectively, the report added.
