Former world number one Ana Ivanovic defeated Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova 6-3, 6-2 conquering her grasscourt gremlins at last to win her first ever tournament on the surface as she bagged the Birmingham Open title.
It has taken the Serbian almost a decade to achieve the honour on a grasscourt.
According to Sport24, the top-seeded Ivanovic did not drop a set throughout the tournament and she won the final in only 73 minutes as she defeated the unseeded Czech, who was playing in her first final in a Premier level event.
Ivanovic said that one is waiting for such a result and now it has come and she is very happy, but added that she did not expect it.
Ivanovic said that the biggest challenge for her currently is to be okay with not playing a perfect game, not playing a perfect shot.
