The Indian community at Hannover's City Hall has been eagerly waiting for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrival, wishing to take a 'selfie' with him.

"I'm here to meet our Prime Minister and I want a selfie with him if it's possible", said one of the Indian expats.

"We believe in the Make in India concept and in five to 10 years' time, I can see myself back in India, supporting the campaign.

I see myself using the experience I've gained in Germany in India to do something good for my country," said another enthusiast, to show his support for the Prime Minister's Make in India campaign.

"It's an honour to have a selfie with our Prime Minister," said one of the Indian Airbus workers from Hamburg.

I wish the best for Modi in the future. I think he is a great Prime Minister!" said a student of the International School of Hannover.

"The brand image of India is growing aggressively, which had been missing for a long time. We need each other in terms of technology; both nations need to grow together," said another expat, who was carrying both German and Indian flags.

During his visit to Germany, Prime Minister Modi will be present at the opening ceremony of the 2015 edition of the Hannover Messe business fair, for which India is the partner country.

He will later unveil a bust of Mahatma Gandhi in Hannover, before holding talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

On Monday, the Prime Minister, along with Chancellor Merkel, will jointly open the India pavilion at the Hannover Messe, before travelling to Berlin to visit the Siemens Technical Academy and meeting German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel.

On Tuesday, the final day of his stay in Berlin, Prime Minister Modi will receive a ceremonial welcome by Chancellor Merkel at the Federal Chancellery. Later, he will visit a model railway station in the city, before flying for Ottawa for the final leg of his tour.
