Delhi Metro flags off trial run on Violet line in Badarpur-Faridabad corridor

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) began its trial runs on the extended Violet Line on the Badarpur-Faridabad corridor on Sunday.

DMRC managing director Mangu Singh congratulated his entire team and the Haryana government for its cooperation in the much awaited project.

"I would like to congratulate my whole DMRC team and Haryana government for its cooperation. There were many problems faced by us regarding the alignment, land availability and so on, still establishing this in three years is a big achievement according to me," Mangu Singh told the media here.

"These lines have been designed for maximum six coaches. There is always a problem of traffic in metro, if we run six coaches in non-peak hours, the metro will be underutilized," he added.

Singh further asserted that barring major problems, the metro line should be ready in one or two months.

According to reports, the DMRC will check the interaction of the trains with civil structure to ensure that there is no physical blockage during its movement on the tracks.

The DMRC will also test the signalling system and other features like the response of the train at different speeds, braking and inter-connection and so on.

The fully elevated 14 kilometre stretch from Badarpur to Faridabad is scheduled to be formally opened in June.
