Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed that next year's race calendar may not include the Indian Grand Prix as Russia prepares for its debut and Austria is welcomed back into the fold.

According to Sport 360, earlier this year Ecclestone expressed his concern of having more than 20 races in the calendar and with New Jersey also gearing up to welcome the F1 roadshow in 2014, swelling the number of races to a possible 22, Ecclestone concedes that India may have to make way.

Since making its F1 debut in 2011 to positive reviews, the Indian GP has been dogged with issues concerning the huge expense accrued to stage the race and the sport's exposure to high local taxation, which Ecclestone has bemoaned in the past, the report said.

Last month promoters Jaypee Sports International issued a statement insisting reports that the 2014 race was in jeopardy were 'totally baseless and malicious' and pointed out that an agreement was in place to stage races at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) until 2015, the report added.
