Investigation into 'comatose' Schumacher's skiing accident likely to close

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic skiing accident of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher is reportedly likely to close in the next few days.

The seven-time German world champion, who retired in 2012, has been in a medically-induced coma at a Grenoble hospital since Christmas week following his skiing accident off-piste at the French Alps.

According to the Mirror, after a four-week inquiry, French investigators have passed their conclusions to the office of investigating prosecutor, following which the file of Schumacher's accident is likely to close.

That report mentioned that if that happens, then the makers of the equipment Schumacher was using, the manufacturer of the helmet he was wearing and the authorities who put up signage on the slopes around the rocky off-piste slopes near Meribel will effectively be cleared of any involvement in the accident.

The report also said that Schumacher's close friend and former boss, Ross Brawn, made a secret bedside visit last Thursday after he was smuggled in, unseen, through the staff entrance.

Since the process has begun two weeks ago to bring Schumacher out of the induced coma, doctors report reflex spasms but no response to stimulus tests, the report added.
