Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is behind the targetted killings in Punjab, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said on Tuesday.
He also said the ISI wanted to disrupt the communal harmony in Punjab.
The chief minister's statement came after the Punjab Police arrested four persons in connection with the targetted killings that were being carried out in the state for more than a year.
"Breakthrough in targeted killings with arrest of 4, conspiracy was hatched by #ISI on foreign soil to spread communal disturbances," Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh tweeted.
He also addressed a press conference here and said, "The arrests are the breakthrough in killings of Amit Arora, Durgadas Gupta, Jagdish Gagneja, Amit Sharma, Satpal, Ramesh Kumar, Sultan Masih, and Ravinder Gosain."
He said the game plan was hatched by the ISI to cause communal disturbance in Punjab.
"The purpose behind the targetted killings was to cause communal disturbances in the furtherance of ISI's anti-India game plan. The conspiracy was hatched in various nations," Singh said.
Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP) said the arrests established ISI link, nexus between gangsters in providing weapons, exploitation of our innocent youth by radicalising them.
