An Israeli minister on Tuesday called for the assassination of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and said his rule is the worst since the Nazis in World War-II.

Syrian President Bashar Assad need to be killed in the light of the reports that Assad regime carried out mass executions and burned the bodies of the victims, Local media quoted Housing Minister Yoav Galant as saying.

A former major-general in the IDF and a current member of the National Security Council was reacting to a U.S. Government statement that the Syrian regime constructed a crematorium to dispose of the bodies of prisoners in what they claim is an attempt to hide evidence of mass killing.

Expressing his desire to replace the existing Assad regime, the Minister added that Israel wants to see Assad and his Alawite regime fall from power and be replaced by a moderate Sunni ruler.

Galant charged that the rule of the Assad regime was the worst since the Nazis led by Adolf Hitler in Germany during XXII.

"People are being executed in Syria, being hit deliberately by chemical weapons, their bodies being burned, these types of barbaric killings we haven't seen in 70 years, red line has been crossed and it is time to eliminate Assad," Galant said while speaking at the Israel Defence publication's Ground Warfare and Logistics at the tank museum in Latrun.
