India's leading travel search marketplace ixigo has recorded a whopping 95 percent increase in flight bookings owing to the upcoming festive season, slashed flight fares and the "Countdown to Diwali Sale" that they have been running.

"Even though the festival holidays are just around the corner, flight fares are at an all time low with airlines such as SpiceJet offering fares as low as Rs. 803, which turn out to be Rs. 53 after our Rs. 750 cash-back offer! That is absolutely crazy. While it is generally observed that the days coming up to holidays see a considerable increase in airfares that is not the case this year. All leading airlines including Indigo, Jet Airways, Go Air, Spicejet, etc. are running good discounts on regular fares," said CEO and Co-Founder, Aloke Bajpai.

According to Indian Railways, train tickets of all prominent travel sectors for the festival holidays have already sold out. Keeping this in mind, and with just two days left for their sale to end, ixigo urges people to make bookings for the holidays soon.

Though airfares have hit rock bottom for now, these prices will not last for too long. Some of the popular travel sectors offering fares below Rs. 999 post cash-back include Delhi-Jaipur, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Bengaluru-Goa, Delhi-Dehradun, Delhi-Udaipur, etc.
