The 27-year-old actor has been behind bars since June for taking cops on a chase that exceeded speeds of 100 mph, reports TMZ.com.
According to his mom Lisa, authorities reached the conclusion that he needed help more than punishment because he suffers from schizophrenia and hence this move has been taken.
Lisa says she spoke with the 'Unhook the Stars' star last week and can already see an improvement in his personality.
Reportedly, there is no timetable for his release. His family wants him to take his time to get healthy.
